Botulinum toxin

An injectable treatment that relaxes specific muscles to soften expression lines, mainly on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes.

What it is

Botulinum toxin is a prescription-only medicine. It acts on the contraction of the muscles that cause expression lines; it does not fill or add volume. The effect is temporary.

Who it may suit

People with lines that appear or deepen with facial expression. It is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or with some neuromuscular conditions, so your medical history is always part of the consultation.

How it is done

After the assessment, treatment is given with a very fine needle in a short session. The effect starts to show after a few days and is complete in about two weeks, when a review can be scheduled.

Recovery and aftercare

  • In most cases you can return to your routine the same day.
  • For the first few hours we ask you not to massage the treated area and to avoid intense exercise.
  • How long the effect lasts varies from person to person.

Risks and limitations

Bruising, headache, asymmetry or, rarely, temporary drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow can occur. That is why treatment is given only by doctors, with doses and injection points planned for each face.

Every case is assessed in consultation. This page explains the procedure in general terms. The indication, technique, recovery and risks in your case can only be defined after an in-person medical consultation.
