What it is
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body. The products used have different densities depending on the area: lips, under-eyes, cheeks, nasolabial folds or chin. The effect is temporary and, if needed, can be reversed with an enzyme (hyaluronidase).
Who it may suit
People who have lost volume with age, have deep folds or want to define a contour. We look at the face as a whole; sometimes the best recommendation is a different treatment, or none at all.
How it is done
Treatment takes place in a short session, with topical anaesthetic or anaesthetic already included in the product. Beforehand we explain which areas will be treated and why.
Recovery and aftercare
- Swelling and small bruises are common in the first days.
- The result is assessed at a review appointment.
- How long it lasts depends on the area and the product.
Risks and limitations
Besides swelling, bruising, lumps or asymmetry, there is a rare but serious risk of vascular occlusion, which requires immediate recognition and treatment. This is one of the reasons fillers should be performed by experienced doctors.
